Phase One cameras are integrated with GPS/IMU systems and save the GPS/IMU data as part of the exposure information.
The communication is RS232 and I/O. There are two connection modes: Event driven and Continuous.
- Event driven - requires a GPS that supports event I/O. The GPS gets a Mid Exposure Pulse (MEP) from the camera and sends data to the camera.
- Continuous — the GPS sends the data in a continuous NMEA stream to the camera. The camera stores the received data after MEP.

Note: Phase One cameras may work with any NMEA GPS.
